Tyro Group Acquires American City Pest & Termite

2026-06-08 11:25 am

Norway-based Tyro Group has strengthened its foothold in the United States with the acquisition of American City Pest & Termite, a pest control provider based in California. This latest move marks Tyro Group’s second acquisition in the U.S., following its purchase of EnviroSMART Multifamily Pest Solutions in Texas in November 2025.

The acquisition is a key step in Tyro Group’s international expansion strategy, which focuses on creating a network of high-quality, customer-oriented pest control businesses across major markets. Tyro Group, a leading European pest control company, operates in seven countries, with strong market positions in the UK, Norway, and Germany.

American City Pest & Termite was founded in 1979 by Jim and Celia Shockey. Starting as a family-run operation in Southern California, the business grew from its humble beginnings at the Shockey family kitchen table into a trusted community service provider operating across Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Over its 47-year history, the company has remained committed to its core principles:

"Work hard, treat people kindly, do the right thing, and take pride in serving the families and businesses that rely on you."

With the acquisition, American City Pest & Termite is entering a new chapter. Cindy Ziemke, who has been leading the company as president, will be transitioning out of her day-to-day role into a consultant position with Tyro Group. Despite this change, the company’s leadership will remain solid, with Greg Bausch and Andrea (Andi) Moreno continuing to lead operations and uphold the values that have defined American City over the decades.

The acquisition of American City Pest & Termite underscores Tyro Group’s commitment to raising standards and driving innovation within the pest management industry. By combining local expertise with global best practices, the company aims to deliver exceptional service quality to its customers.

As Tyro Group continues to broaden its international presence, this latest acquisition reinforces its position as a growing leader in the pest control sector.
