Orkin has acquired JNJ Pest Control, a Newburgh, New York-based company, in a deal aimed at strengthening the pest control provider’s presence in the state.
JNJ Pest Control was founded in 2009 by John Taylor and grew from a one-person operation into a family-run business. Orkin is headquartered in Atlanta and operates as a pest control brand under Rollins.
Orkin's division president, Art Watson, said the acquisition supports its growth plans in New York:
"We're proud to bring JNJ Pest Control into the Orkin family. Their community ties and loyal customers are an important part of our continued growth in New York. Preserving that trust and delivering excellent service will remain a top priority moving forward."
Taylor, founder of JNJ, said customers should not expect a change in service following the transaction, "JNJ's customers can count on the same level of service they've come to expect. We know they're in good hands with Rollins."
The deal showcases continued consolidation in the fragmented pest control industry, where large operators like Orkin / Rollins absorb regional independents to widen their geographic reach.
The transaction closed in April. Cetane Associates served as sole advisor to JNJ Pest Control in the sale.
