Hubbell Announces Acquisition of NSI for $3 Billion

2026-05-14 7:06 am

Hubbell, a prominent manufacturer of utility and electrical solutions, has announced its plans to acquire NSI Industries for $3 billion. The Shelton, Connecticut-based company revealed the agreement earlier this week, on May 4, 2026 positioning the acquisition as a strategic move to bolster its offerings in the electrical and utility markets.

NSI Industries, currently owned by Sentinel Capital Partners, specializes in producing electrical fittings, connectors, components, and wire management products. Serving both electrical and HVAC markets, NSI operates through a network of distributor channels, offering products under well-established brand names. According to Hubbell, the acquisition will complement its existing Electrical Solutions segment by enhancing product breadth in key categories and distribution channels.

"As electrification megatrends drive attractive growth across the electrical industry over the next several years, NSI offers highly complementary products and industry-leading brands", said Gerben Bakker, CEO of Hubbell.

He further emphasized the alignment between NSI’s offerings and growth opportunities in sectors such as light industrial, data centers, and network infrastructure.

Hubbell’s existing portfolio includes a variety of products designed for power distribution, grid infrastructure, and industrial applications, catering to utility, commercial, and industrial clients. The addition of NSI is expected to scale Hubbell’s presence in electrical distribution channels and expand its range of critical infrastructure products.

The transaction is scheduled to close in mid-2026, pending customary regulatory approvals. Hubbell intends to finance the acquisition through a combination of cash on hand and debt, supported by committed bridge financing from JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and HSBC. Upon completion, NSI will be integrated into Hubbell’s Electrical Solutions segment.

By incorporating NSI’s expertise and established market presence, Hubbell aims to strengthen its foothold in infrastructure-related product categories, positioning itself for growth in an evolving industry driven by electrification trends.
